The California desert based psychedelic rock band 3rd Ear Experience will release their next album "The Twilight Sutra" on Space Rock Productions. Twilight is where night, and day light, blend - a great metaphor for the union of opposites. Twilight is also a deceptive time, shadows and light play tricks on your eyes – mind sees things that are not there, and sometimes not seeing things, that are there. The word Sutra means a thread of minimum words, with maximum meaning. Many ancient wisdom doctrines are delivered in Sutras. Twilight Sutra was recorded at Star lane studios in the Mojave desert over a period of 15 light-years. It's a sci-fi story. The tale of a Viking boy and a Celtic priestess living on parallel universes, often sit at the same tree, by the pond, but cannot see each other. At first they begin to merge - subtly, sharing thoughts in dream sounds. Unbeknown to them on a cosmic level - at the same time, their parallel universes are merging, causing a twilight of astronomical proportions. The Music - The Twilight Sutras, is a rock record blending ancient Celtic, Viking and African music, was composed and arranged in collaboration with modern/ballet dancers conjured up in mind, on the dream plane. Robb would mentally build a dancer from the material of dream stuff, and then allow the dancer to dance across his minds sky, to reveal the choreography. Then he would arrange a piece of music to accompany the flow and movement of the astral dancer. This little process would happen multiple times per each piece of music. Twilight Sutra is constructed for a modern dance ballet, in the way that Lou Harrison the great would supply choreographers with “musical kits”. Twilight Sutra is composed of clusters of musical ideas that can be re-combined in countless different ways depending on what the choreographer requires. This process of creating music to a dancer is different than creating music that a dancer interprets. This album includes a list of a great players who have made the hi desert their home and have played with us over the 20 years we have lived on the desert. We are extremely grateful for their love and support in the exquisite relations we shared over the light years. Twilight Sutra is what it is because of their magical voices. Dr Space (Øresund Space Collective) appears again, dropping colors in the air and writing sweet words on water.

Øresund Space Collective (ØSC), formed in 2004, is a totally improvising Scandinavian space rock band and has been releasing albums since 2006. The band has played concerts & festivals all over Europe. Their music is quite diverse and influenced by the ever-changing line up in the collective. 'Ode To A Black Hole' was originally released in May 2016 on CD and Vinyl. This new edition is a 54min film of the band playing the music live in the studio. It was filmed by Sabine with one handheld camera + one stationary camera. Jonathan made the mix of the two cameras and added some psychedelic effects and colourations. It is quite a journey. In 2024 Dr Space made a 5.1 mix of the original audio to create quite the aural experience for those that have 5.1 systems. 'Ode To A Black Hole' is a totally unique piece of ØSC music and they have never before recorded a piece quite like it. It is very inspired by listening to the UK band, BONG, the morning before heading over to the studio. It is a very slow evolving piece of music with synth drones, violin, pedal steel, minimal bass and slow emotional drums. After about 40mins the piece becomes quite heavy ...

The band has played concerts & festivals all over Europe. Their music is quite diverse and influenced by the ever-changing line up in the collective. This is the 34th studio album by the Øresund Space Collective. Following in the footsteps of previous albums this one starts off with an epic 50 min track that takes you through the forests of funk, into the depths of space and back in under an hour. 'Slow To Fast First Rays' is a beautiful melodic piece of music and then halfway, picks up into an uptempo jam, a bit funky at times, a bit dissonant. 'Weberian Bass' is a sort of hypnotic piece with fantastic guitar lines and synth textures to support the track. 'Tangled Foot Badger' is where things get a bit strange and experimental and you got a trip into a new magical world to disappear forever. 'Echoes Ambientic' is a more ambient synth based mellow track and a good way to come down at the end of the 2nd CD. |
